Concrete Language- Lead for a Story
February11
There is a reflection of the golden sun shimmering off the white blanket of snow. My hands dug deeper in my pockets, like a prairie dog burrowing into the ground…
It was cold.
There was a snow storm last night—you could tell by the crystal white, freshly-fallen snow. Splish! The earth made a noise as I stepped out onto the white cloud of snow. I looked up at the sky as snow-flurries began to fall. The little crystals clung on my eyelashes, making my vision foggy. They fell on my nose and left a wet trail of iciness down my face.
This day was perfect—
Wait… What day is it? I asked myself.
I frowned as I realized something odd-
It was the middle of June!
I love the imagery in this piece, especially,”There is a reflection of the golden sun shimmering off the white blanket of snow.” This lead makes me want more to the story. Great job!
