Student Blogging Challenge: It’s A Small World

March21

I live in Austin,Texas, the 8th wonder of the world. Austin is important because it is a place that combines culture and great activities.

Austin is important because it is the capital of Texas. Austin is home to the largest state capital in the U.S. The dome stands 7 feet higher than the nation’s capital in Washington. This capital has a dome you can stand underneath and see the star of Texas, It is pretty cool!

Furthermore, Austin is important because it is home to over 100 different music venues. This includes ACL and SXSW. This popular city is considered the live music capital of the world, making Austin a major tourist attraction. Speaking of of tourist attractions, Austin also has the largest urban bat population in North America.

Combined with places and activities Austin, Texas, my home, is the place where I want to live the rest of my life.

I Am From… Poem

November21

I am from worn-out socks,
and Little Debbie’s and Harry Potter Legos.
I am from the 800 acres with a bright blue sky,
and the smells of fried chicken and roast.

I am from the massive oak tree,
who seems to be growing and expanding faster than I can comprehend.

I am from the walk of the lights and long legs,
and Vance and Sue Ellen’s branch.
I am from Duck Dynasty and over-decorating for holidays,
and listening to talk radio.

I am from “don’t roll your eyes” and “If you don’t believe, you won’t receive”,
and “If you can’t be good, just be yourself”.
I am from sparkling grape juice and gingerbread cookies,
and wishing for snow.

I am from Westlake and the chancellor of Germany,
and warm chili and cold minute maid.
I am from the dangling length of tied sheets,
hanging from the 2nd story window, with my uncle attached to it.

I am from the magnifying glass,
that is carefully displayed on my desk,
which is what my grandmother gave me,
before she passed.

I am from these moments…

That shape me into who I am now.

Rain

October16

BOOM! Cried the thunder. I was awoken from my deep slumber by the horrific clatter of the storm outside my window. I have never liked storms since I was a little girl. I curled up in my covers and tried to go back to sleep. All I could hear was the pouring rain, falling from the sky. Soon the pitter-patter of the rain was nice and calming. BANG! The lightning yelled as if it was in my ear. I had almost successfully fallen back to sleep, but had failed. I decided to look out my window to see the harsh winds and violent rains. I opened the dusty blinds to find a massive amount of liquid was falling from the heavens, making everything outdoors glisten in the moonlight. After observing my surroundings, I laid back down in my bed, and went fast to sleep.
